PAID FELLOWSHIP: Columbia Global Emerging Scholars Fellowship Program 2025/26 for Scholars (Fully Funded)

The Columbia Global Emerging Scholars Fellowship supports early-career scholars in humanities and humanistic social sciences who are forcibly displaced or have refugee status. The year-long fellowship, offered through Columbia Global Centers, provides research support, professional development, access to Columbia University resources, and helps advance careers. Who can Apply for the Columbia Global Emerging Scholars Fellowship Program?

Eligible candidates are humanities and humanistic social sciences scholars forcibly displaced from their home countries and academic institutions. This includes early-career postdoctoral scholars or PhD candidates whose education was disrupted. Creative writers, artists, curators, and interdisciplinary scholars are encouraged to apply.

Requirements:

  • Must be displaced.
  • Must have a Ph.D. in the humanities (exceptions for M.A. or near-PhD candidates).
  • Must be based in the region of the Global Center (Sub-Saharan Africa for Nairobi; Middle East or North Africa for Amman; Latin America or the Caribbean for Santiago).
  • Must demonstrate intermediate English proficiency.
